Song Tao Meets with Senate President of the Philippines

Manila, March 28th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Tito Sotto, Senate President of the Philippines.

Song said that President Xi Jinping and President Rodrigo Duterte, with a great vision, opened a new chapter in bilateral relations, showing new outlook. China attaches great importance to developing relations with the Philippines, and is willing to work with the Philippine side to well implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, promote exchange between political parties and the legislative bodies of the two countries, carry out mutually beneficial cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, expand education, culture, tourism and other people-to-people and cultural exchanges and strengthen coordination in international and regional affairs, and promote the long-term, healthy and stable development of the relations between China and the Philippines and make due contribution to regional peace and stability.

Sotto said that the two peoples enjoy traditional friendship. The Philippines supports the governments, political parties and parliaments of the two countries in strengthening exchanges, enhancing political mutual trust, promoting mutually beneficial cooperation, deepening friendship between the two peoples and actively benefiting the two peoples for common development.
