Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Poverty Reduction Held in Xi`an

Xi`an, May 12th—The Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Poverty Reduction, co-organized by State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development, Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government, Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government and Silk Road Think Tank Association, was held here. The forum, under the theme of Working Together to Reduce Poverty for Common Development, was attended by officials, experts and scholars and business leaders from 9 countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America. They had in-depth exchanges of views centering on the theme of this forum.

Hu Heping, Secretary of the CPC Shaanxi Provincial Committee, delivered a keynote speech. Liu Guozhong, Governor of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government, made a thematic speech. Guo Yezhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of Silk Road Think Tank Association, addressed the forum.

At the forum, foreign representatives spoke highly of China's achievements in poverty reduction and its contribution to the world's poverty reduction. They also hoped that with the continuous promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative, poverty reduction in their countries could be promoted to a higher level.
