 ( 2020.04.23 )

On April 23th, an opening ceremony of the online training workshop for senior cadres of the South African Communist Party (SACP) was held. Li Mingxiang, Assistant-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), delivered a speech via video link. Solly Mapaila, SACP First Deputy General Secretary attended the training workshop along with 20 SACP senior cadres, and addressed the event.

On behalf the Minister Song Tao and the IDCPC, Li thanked the South African side’s support for China’s fight against the COVID-19, and made a brief introduction to China’s practice in defeating the disease as well as China’s international anti-epidemic cooperation guided by the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind. Li said that China is ready to share its practice with South Africa, enhance cooperation in fighting the pandemic, and work with the South African side to jointly oppose politicizing the epidemic of COVID-19, labeling the virus and stigmatizing China, so as to consolidate the special friendship of comrades and brothers between the two Parties and the two countries.

Mapaila applauded and appreciated China for hosting the online training workshop, and noted that the workshop servers as a valuable chance for the SACP to learn China’s experience in defeating the coronavirus disease, which has opened up a new way for the two Parties’ exchanges and cooperation. China has achieved prominent progress in fighting the epidemic at home and also actively assisted the global fight against the disease, testifying vividly the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind, and greatly enhancing the influence of the socialist system. Extending gratitude to China for its support in South Africa’s battle against the pandemic, South Africa opposes the stigmatization of China by certain Western countries, and is willing to make joint efforts with China to win the global war against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Both sides will conduct exchanges via video link on such topics on enhancing epidemic prevention and control, carrying forward China-Africa friendship, coordinating epidemic control and economic and social development, and poverty alleviation in the following five days.
