Chen Zhou Attends the Fifth International Forum on the Belt and Road Initiative and Global Governance

Beijing, December 3rd—Chen Zhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and Co-Chairman of the Council of the Silk Road Think Tank Association (SRTA), attended here today the opening ceremony of the fifth International Forum on the Belt and Road Initiative and Global Governance and delivered a speech via video link.

Chen said, the important speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the third symposium on the development of the Belt and Road Initiative provides us with the fundamental guidance for better promoting the Belt and Road cooperation under the new situation. Following the course charted by General Secretary Xi Jinping, the Chinese side will firmly push the Belt and Road cooperation towards high-standard, sustainable and people-centered development. Chen mainly introduced the significance of the Resolution of the CPC Central Committee on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party over the Past Century adopted at the sixth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, and said that the CPC will, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, better uphold and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics, continue to explore a Chinese path to modernization with determination, develop whole-process people’s democracy, and join hands with all progressive forces in the world to constantly make new contributions to the progress of human civilization.

The forum themed on fighting Covid-19 in solidarity and promoting inclusive development of the Belt and Road Initiative was organized by the SRTA and Fudan University. Jiao Yang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Fudan University, Vincent H. S. Lo, Chairman of the Shui On Group, Leslie Maasdorp, Vice President of the New Development Bank, and other Chinese and foreign guests attended the forum and conducted in-depth discussions on the topics including the new field of exploring a green, healthy, digital and humanistic Silk Road, and the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.
