Liu Jianchao Holds a Video Call with Narayan Khadka, Leader of Nepali Congress Party and Foreign Minister of Nepal

Beijing, June 30th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), held a video call here today with Narayan Khadka, Leader of Nepali Congress Party and Foreign Minister of Nepal.

Liu said, since China and Nepal established diplomatic relations over 60 years ago, both sides have always understood and supported each other, setting an example of equality, friendship, and mutually beneficial cooperation between neighboring countries. In October 2019, General Secretary Xi Jinping paid a historic visit to Nepal, opening up a new chapter of China-Nepal friendly cooperation. The CPC maintains friendly exchanges with all the political parties of Nepal, including Nepali Congress Party. The CPC is willing to, together with Nepali Congress Party, implement the important consensus between General Secretary Xi Jinping and leaders of Nepal, deepen experience exchange and mutual learning in state governance and administration, and strengthen resources and cooperation integration between both sides via “political parties plus”cooperation, China-Nepal Political Parties Belt and Road Joint Consultation and other platforms, to push China-Nepal relations for continuous, healthy and stable development. Both sides should always be good neighbors sharing weal and woe, good partners pursuing common development, good brothers supporting each other and good friends sharing the same ideal and following the same path, to better benefit the two peoples, and safeguard regional peace and stability. The CPC will hold the 20th CPC National Congress in the second half of the year, which carries great significance for the CPC and the Chinese people, and will exert major and positive influence on the world. The Chinese side is willing to inform the Nepali side of the relevant situation of the congress when it ends.

Khadka congratulated the CPC on the upcoming 101th anniversary, spoke highly of the glorious journey of the CPC over the past centenary, particularly the Chinese people’s remarkable development achievements in such areas as poverty alleviation, scientific and technological innovation, and anti-epidemic under the leadership of the CPC since the 18th CPC National Congress. Khadka thanked the Chinese side for the precious support in economic and social development and anti-epidemic to Nepal. Khadka said, the Nepali Congress Party is committed to developing friendly relations with China, and will resolutely pursue the one-China principle and adhere to an independent foreign policy, and will never allow any force to use its territory for anti-China activities. Nepali Congress Party is ready to strengthen institutionalized exchanges with the CPC, promote practical cooperation in all areas between the two countries, and push Nepal-China relations to new highs. He wished the 20th CPC National Congress a complete success.
