Shen Beili Attends China-Nigeria Business Dialogue

On August 30, China-Nigeria Business Dialogue themed on Seeking Common Cooperation and Development through Inter-party Exchanges was held via video link. Shen Beili, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Guo Ningning, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Deputy Governor of Fujian Province, Cui Jianchun, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Iyiola Omisore, National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Senator, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Governor of the Kano State, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment of Nigeria and others attended and addressed the function.

Shen said, under the planning of the two heads of state, China-Nigeria strategic partnership maintains sound development momentum, with fruitful results in mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas. Both countries have pushed the practical cooperation between the enterprises of both sides and practical cooperation at local level through exchange channels of ruling parties, boosting the in-depth development of China-Africa friendship.

Omisore said, the practices since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties 50 years ago proved that China is a trustworthy cooperation and trade partner of Nigeria. APC hopes to, together with the CPC, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning, further integrate the development strategies of the two countries, and help Nigeria realize inclusive growth of its economy.

Guo said, Fujian Province is willing to, under the frameworks of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), intensify friendly exchanges with the Nigerian side, strengthen cooperation in such areas as economy, trade, digital development, agriculture, and sister cities, to benefit the two peoples.

Ganduje expressed, the Kano State boasts rich resources, abundant labor force and a sound business environment. He warmly welcomed the investments of Chinese enterprises in the Kano State.

Cui noted, under the new circumstances, China and Nigeria need to advance the 5GIST China-Nigeria GDP Strategy in an in-depth manner, share China's culture of "He"(harmony in English), and write a harmonious chapter together.

Adebayo said, Nigeria is taking the opportunity of the implementation of the results of the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the FOCAC, and accelerating its economic upgrading. He expected both sides to deepen cooperation in aspects including infrastructure construction.

At the meeting, Fujian Province and the Kano State signed the Letter of Intent on the Establishment of Friendly Relationship between Fujian Province of the People’s Republic of China and the Kano State of Federal Republic of Nigeria. About 150 people attended the meeting online, including representatives of the enterprises from Fujian Province, the Kano State and Chinese enterprises in Nigeria. They made in-depth exchanges and matchmaking in cooperation in the cultivation of Juncao (a Chinese-invented technology using grass to grow mushrooms), development of mining industry, processing of agricultural and animal husbandry products and other fields.
