Liu Jianchao Meets with a Delegation of the Leaders Party of Vanuatu

Beijing, April 26th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a delegation led by Jotham Napat, President of the Leaders Party of Vanuatu.  


Liu said, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vanuatu 42 years ago, China-Vanuatu relations have developed steadily under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries. China is willing to work with Vanuatu to implement the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and the leaders of Vanuatu, jointly pursue high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, support each other on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns, promote China-Vanuatu relations for steady and long-term development, and promote regional peace, stability and prosperity.  

Liu said, in recent years, exchanges between the political parties of China and Vanuatu have continued to deepen, becoming an important channel for the two sides to enhance political mutual trust and consolidate relations between the two countries. The CPC is willing to maintain close exchanges with the Leaders Party of Vanuatu, strengthen mutual learning of experience in state governance and administration, promote exchanges between women and youth organizations and practical cooperation in various fields, and play a positive role in promoting the development of relations between the two countries. Liu also introduced the development process of the CPC and the core essence of Chinese modernization. He expressed that the Chinese side is willing to work with Pacific Island countries, including Vanuatu, to implement the three major global initiatives, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.  

Napat thanked China for inviting the delegation of the Leaders Party of Vanuatu to visit China, saying that during this visit, he witnessed China's great achievements in economic and social development, especially in poverty alleviation. By visiting the site of the First CPC National Congress in Shanghai, he gained a better understanding of the history of the CPC. Under the leadership of the CPC, China has transformed from a poor and weak country into the world's second largest economy and has made great contributions to world peace and development. Vanuatu firmly adheres to the one-China principle and thanks China for its selfless help in infrastructure construction, disaster prevention, mitigation, and relief. China is a true friend of Vanuatu. The Leaders Party hopes to take this visit to China and the establishment of inter-party relations with the CPC as an opportunity to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two sides, learn experience in state governance and administration from the CPC, and promote the development of relations between the two Parties and the two countries.  


After the meeting, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of inter-party relations between the Communist Party of China and the Leaders Party of Vanuatu.
