Liu Jianchao Meets with Eduardo Saboia, Deputy Foreign Minister of Brazil

Beijing, May 14th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Eduardo Saboia, Deputy Foreign Minister of Brazil.  


Liu said, last year, President Xi Jinping had a successful meeting with visiting President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, jointly planning the future of China-Brazil relations. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Brazilian side to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, and take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to intensify high-level exchanges, deepen political mutual trust, strengthen the docking of development strategies, and promote practical cooperation in various fields. China and Brazil are both major developing countries and important emerging economies, and China-Brazil relations have transcended the bilateral scope. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Brazilian side to intensify strategic coordination in multilateral mechanisms such as BRICS, the China-CELAC Forum, and the G20, and jointly safeguard international fairness and justice. The CPC is willing to strengthen exchanges with the Workers' Party of Brazil and other parties, deepen the exchanges of experience in state governance and administration, and provide political support for the sustained and stable development of the China-Brazil comprehensive strategic partnership.  

Saboia said, today's world is turbulent, but Brazil-China relations have maintained stability and predictability. Last year, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva successfully visited China and together with President Xi Jinping set the tone for the future development of Brazil-China relations. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Brazil and China. The Brazilian side is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges with the Chinese side, make good use of mechanisms such as the intergovernmental high-level coordination and cooperation committee, deepen cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, sustainable development, and global governance, promote exchanges between political parties, and propel Brazil-China cooperation for further development. The Brazilian side is ready to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Chinese side within multilateral mechanisms and make greater contributions to the reform of the global governance system.
