Beijing, March 12th—Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Ibrahim Waheed, Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts of Maldives.

Liu said, in recent years, President Xi Jinping and President Mohamed Muizzu have held two successful meetings, charting the course for the development of China–Maldives relations. Inter-party exchanges constitute an important part of bilateral relations. The CPC stands ready to work with political parties in Maldives, including the People's National Congress, to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, promote the alignment of development plans through inter-party channels, advance policy coordination and deepen practical cooperation. The CPC is also willing to expand exchanges at various levels, including exchanges between youth, women and media, enhance coordination in multilateral affairs, and promote the continuous development of bilateral relations. Liu also noted that China’s recently concluded Two Sessions, the annual sessions of the National People's Congress (NPC) and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), have approved the outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan, which will bring more opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.

Waheed said, China has always been a sincere friend of Maldives and thanked China for its assistance to the country’s economic and social development. Cooperative projects such as the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge have delivered tangible benefits to the Maldivian people. President Mohamed Muizzu and the Maldivian government are firmly committed to developing friendly relations with China. The Maldivian side stands ready to be guided by the important consensus reached by the two heads of state to advance practical cooperation across various fields, deepen exchanges between political parties as well as between youth and in people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and achieve more outcomes in bilateral relations.
