Ladies and Gentlemen,

Dear colleagues and participants,

On behalf of the Romanian delegation attending this forum, as the Vice-President of the Romanian Senate as well as a young European politician, I am highly honored to express my most sincere appreciation and greetings for the Chinese people.

The Young Political Leaders Forum of China and Central and Eastern European Countries is one of China’s Twelve Measures for Promoting Friendly Cooperation with these countries, holding geo-strategical position in Europe.

Its main aim is to strenghten  the traditional friendship, further enhance mutual understanding and deepen practical cooperation.

Our meeting holds a very important meaning, granting us ,as young politicians ,the opportunity to enhance the efficient and pragmatic dialogue, thus widening the cooperation between China and Central and Eastern Europe.

Though spanning thousands of miles apart, trade and cultural exchanges, along the Silk Road, linking China to Roman Empire, hold a history of over two milennia.

For thousands of years, the Silk Road Spirit – “peace and cooperation, openness, mutual learning and mutual benefit, regardless of race, religion or culture” – has been passed from generation to generation, promoted the progress of human civilization, and contributed greatly to the prosperity and development of the countries along the Silk Road

The (21st ) twenty-first century revived  the Silk Road ,strenghtened billateral cooperation between China and Europe, putting into practice the „Strategic Agenda 2020”, whose four aims are: peace, economic growth, reform  and civilization.

President Xi Jinping’s grand vision of the ”Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road”, also known as „The Belt and the Road” initiative, holds a strategic ,meaningful ,historical opportunity for all countries along this route.

”The Belt and the Road „  cooperation features mutual learning between civilizations.

With the advance of multi-polarization and economic globalization, the need for common actions and effective comunication is growing more intense if we seek peace and stability.

All coutries involved in this project experience painstaking transitions, with the need for new investments and technology, win-win exchanges and a shared experience.

Romania holds a geo-strategical position in Europe, being a key part in the chain bridging Europe and China.

My country is willing to put into practice the Cooperation Programme between China and Central-Eastern European countries, as well as abide by all consensual decisions adopted by China and Romania regarding billateral projects on energy, railway network, ports, shipping, agriculture and so on.

Romania also strongly supports the consolidation of this strategic China –EU partnership, namely „The EU-China Partnership and Cooperation Agreement”, with a considerable impact upon the whole world.

This provides a  favourable framework and plays a key role in the China-EU relations.

The new approach launched by China at this forum is the best opportunity for all countries from this geo-strategical region to develop common, meaningful projects.

I proudly recall the fact that the Third Economic and Trade Forum between China and CEE (Central and Eatern European Countries) was hosted by my country, Romania, in November 2013.

Premier Li Keqiang and 16 of his CEE counterparts forged guidelines for the expansion of their cooperation in political, trade, investment, finance, science and cultural exchanges.

The young politicians shoulder the heavy responsibility of building the future of their own countries and should be a new and strong force to carry on with the traditional friendship with China, further enhance mutual understanding and deepen practical cooperation.

Dramatic and unforseen changes and unrest in the political and economical agenda worldwide, oblige us to put all our efforts together for our best interests.

China has become one the world`s largest economy and a good example to follow for other countries.

Through shared experience, we can learn from each other and find better ways of improving our people`s living standards. It is our duty and within our power to do so.

Our host`s amazing initiative to have us all gathered every year offers new and inspiring ways for mutual growth.

For an even more comprehensive, efficent and balanced cooperation between member states of this forum, I kindly suggest to our Chinese friends to open up to the possibility of hosting the forum from 2016 on, in China as well as in another CEE country, alternatively.

Romania is willingfully envisaging this possibility and would be honored to host this forum.

On the occasion of the 67th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Romania and China,on behalf of the National Convention of Youth Foundations from Romania, and the National Youth Council from Romania, I am honored to address our Chinese partners the invitation to launch in 2016 a „Youth Bridge”, consisting of an exchange of visiting delegations made up of 67 youths.

The young politicians have the opportunity as well as the responsability to further promote collaboration with China in economical and research field, through a series of sincere partnerships, based upon mutual respect, thus ensuring long-time achievements.

China, together with the Central-Eastern European Countries are playing a key role in the peace-keeping and economical stability on a global level and it is our duty to ensure that this meaningful cooperation continues for the the better in the years to come.

United we shall stand!

United we shall overcome!

United we shall prevail!

AUGUSTIN  MITU
