Speech by Ronnie Brunswijk, President of the General Liberation and Development Party, Vice-President of the Republic of Suriname

　　Honorable Mister Chairman, Fellow representatives of countries and international friends, 

　　It is my honor to address you at this Third Meeting of China-CELAC Political Parties Forum, with the theme“GATHERING POLITICAL PARTY STRENGTH FOR A CHINA LAC COMMUNITY WITH SHARED FUTURE”. 

　　This forum conducted two days of high-quality, intensive, and candid communication and discussion. It is undoubtedly a successful political party event. We have gained a lot of inspiration from the successful experience of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in governing the country. Over the past 100 years, CPC has always adhered to the socialist ideals, persisted in finding truth in practice, adhered to the people’s stand and served the people, and has led the Chinese people to achieve great achievements that have attracted worldwide attention. ABOP would like to take this opportunity to warmly congratulates China on the 100th anniversary of the founding of CPC and on the successful convening of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of CPC.  

　　I would like to open my statement by quoting quote some thoughts of the honorable Mr. Xi Jinpingand I quote: 

　　 “The world today, is undergoing complex and profound changes, economic globalization continues to surge ahead, science and technology develop at an amazing speed, and interactions among civilizations become increasingly frequent, the pursuit of wellbeing of people of all countries is intertwined as never before, coupled with both historic opportunities, risks and challenges.  

　　Under the new historic circumstances, it is the shared responsibility and common objective for political parties to ensure the wellbeing of their people and they need to enable the attainment of wellbeing of all people towards the harmonious vision of prosperity for all”. 

　　I think this is the way our international society should work together in order to prosper. Nowadays challenges are confronted with unprecedented inequality between countries, increasing climate – changes have an impact on healthy livelihoods of people, geopolitical tensions, a raging Corona – 19 pandemic, increasing poverty and discrimination. 

　　Faced with these global threats and challenges, we as political leaders, must more than ever, nurture the growth of strong leaders within our communities, who must also possess cross-border leadership qualities. Present leaders, responsible for their respective countries prosperity, must achieve consensus on national level to invest in such national leaders. 

　　In this age of unequal prosperity, threats to health care, lack of quality education, unprecedented poverty and inequality, China has proven to excel in economic growth, and she is winning the fight against poverty and inequality. In doing so, China is reaching towards the goals set in the 2030 AGENDA for SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. 

　　In December 2014, China also entered into a strategic alliance with the CELAC countries focusing on investment and trade cooperation. As a great power in the world with an unprecedented financial capacity, China has committed to help countries in crisis situations, in order to reduce the poverty struggle, fight the Corona–19 virus, offer education scholarships and much more. The Surinamese people therefore believe that the China – CELAC community is a platform for cooperation for a closer society and we should all nurture this. 

　　As the relationship between the Surinamese and Chinese people dates back to the 1800, covering almost 200 years of friendship, our collaboration in various sectors has already been successful. Respect for each other's culture is one of the areas of cooperation that we use to extend this relationship. 

　　Finally, we as political leaders must guide our political parties to advocate for healthy cooperation and strengthening of relationships, guided by wisdom and love for all. I ask this forum for closer cooperation to fight the current international challenges that are becoming increasingly complex.We must consciously join forces to transform new opportunities into prosperity and well – being for the benefit of our world’s population. 

　　We express the wish that the good relationship between our parties will be mutually beneficial and shall be extended in the future.
