XI'AN, May 30 -- Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao on Thursday met with foreign guests participating in a conference of Asian political parties in northwest China's Xi'an City.
China and other Asian countries are a community with a common destiny of peace and development, and China's growth profits from and benefits Asian development, Li said when meeting with representatives attending the two-day special conference of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), which opened on Thursday.
The Communist Party of China (CPC) is ready to join hands with political parties of other Asian countries to promote peaceful, green and common development, Li said.
He also called for cooperation among political parties of Asia, Africa and Latin America as well as organizations of political parties to safeguard the interests of developing countries and promote the lasting peace and common prosperity of the world.
Li was echoed by the representatives, who said the conference has led to a united front for green development and provided a new channel for more cooperation and common development among developing nations.
While meeting with representatives of the Council of the African Political Parties, Li said the CPC hopes to strengthen its cooperation with the council and political parties of African countries to share the opportunities and experience of development.
The council's chairman, Wynter Kabimba, praised China as a true friend and partner of Africa and said the council devotes itself to promoting China-Africa friendship.
Running under the theme "Promote green development and build a beautiful Asia together," the two-day conference has attracted representatives from about 50 political parties from Asian countries. About 200 people from Latin American and African parties are also participating as observers.
The ICAPP is a forum of political parties from Asian and Oceanic countries. It was initiated by Philippines political party the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats in September 2000.
The CPC hosted the organization's general assembly in 2004 in Beijing, as well as two special conferences in 2010 and 2011.
