UKURGAN-TUBE, July 5 -- President of Tajikistan and Leader of the ruling People’s Democratic Party Emomalii Rahmon met today in Kurgan-tube with visiting Chinese leader Zhao Leji, member of the Political Bureau, member of the Secretariat and minister of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Rahmon expressed his sincere gratitude to Chinese President Xi Jinping for the high attention to his recent visit to China and said that Tajikistan is currently implementing the important consensus he has reached with President Xi. The establishment of strategic partnership between Tajikistan and China has offered more space for the two sides to beef up practical cooperation in all fields and deepen strategic security cooperation, Rahmon said. He thanked China for its valuable support and help to Tajikistan in realizing stability and development in the country over the past years, and believed that the Chinese Dream of the great renewal of the Chinese nation will make greater contribution to regional and world peace and development and will also bring more opportunities to Tajikistan. The People’s Democratic Party, he said, is ready to further cement and deepen its exchanges and cooperation with the CPC so that the party-to-party relations grow simultaneously with the state-to-state relations.

Zhao conveyed to Rahmon sincere greetings from President Xi. With the bilateral relations standing at a new historical starting point, China is ready to pursue more comprehensive and in-depth cooperation with Tajikistan while supporting, as always, Tajikistan’s choice of its own development path in line with the country’s national conditions, Zhao said. Calling party-to-party relations an important part for China-Tajikistan ties, Zhao hoped the two parties can continue the close contacts at all levels and share experience of state governance in a bid to boost practical cooperation between the two sides, further grow the two peoples’ friendship and deepen the bilateral strategic partnership.

Zhao also held talks with the first Deputy Chairman Safar Safarov of the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan on the same day.
