Costa Rican president meets CPC delegation

SAN JOSE, Feb. 21 -- Laura Chinchilla, President of Costa Rica met a CPC delegation led by Qiang Wei, member of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Qinghai Provincial Committee, in San Jose on Feb. 21st.

Chinchilla lauded the fruitful cooperation in various areas as having delivered tangible benefits to the two peoples since the two countries established diplomatic ties six years ago.

She said that Costa Rica admires the strides China has made in its development and is appreciative of China's support and help to Costa Rica.

She pledged to join hands with China to upgrade the friendly cooperative relations between the two countries.

Qiang said that the visit of President Chinchilla to China last year has further solidified the foundation for bilateral relations.

Viewing bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, China is willing to deepen the mutually beneficial cooperation in different areas with Costa Rica, draw on the experience of Costa Rica in ecological protection so as to strike a better balance between economic development and environmental protection for sustainable development, he said.

The CPC delegation arrived in San Jose on Feb. 20th at the invitation of the National Liberation Party.
