Song Tao Meets with Palestinian Fatah Delegation

Beijing, May 15th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a delegation of Palestinian Fatah led by Abbas Zaki, Member of the Fatah Central Committee and Commissioner for Relations with Arab Countries and China.

Speaking positively of China-Palestine traditional friendship and the contributions made by Zaki to promoting relations between the two countries, Song expressed that China-Palestine relations have gone through the test of international vicissitudes, and remained unshakable and become even firmer as time goes by. China will continue to support and promote the Middle East peace process, and support the just cause of the Palestinian people for striving for legitimate rights. The CPC is willing to continuously enhance friendly communication and cooperation in various fields as well as consolidate traditional friendship between the two parties, so as to lead relations between both countries to develop in a comprehensive manner.

Speaking highly of the historic accomplishments China has achieved since its reform and opening up, and the precious support China has provided for the just cause of Palestine for a long time, Zaki noted that Fatah treasures the friendly relations with the CPC, and is willing to take this visit as an opportunity to further deepen communication and cooperation in various fields between the two parties.

Both sides also exchanged in-depth views on the current situation in the Middle East.

After the meeting, Song and Zaki jointly signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation Between the CPC and Fatah.

Li Jun, IDCPC Vice-minister, attended the meeting.
