Song Tao Meets with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of New Zealand

Beijing, May 25th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee met here on the morning with Winston Peters, leader of the New Zealand First Party, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of New Zealand.

Song expressed that at present, China-New Zealand relations maintain healthy and stable development momentum and continue to walk in the forefront of relations between China and developed countries. As an important component of relations between the two countries, party-to-party relations play a unique part in such aspects as enhancing mutual understanding between the two sides, deepening political mutual trust as well as promoting practical cooperation. The CPC values its relations with the New Zealand First Party and is willing to strengthen exchanges with political parties in New Zealand including the New Zealand First Party, in a bid to constantly inject fresh vitality to the development of bilateral relations.

Peters noted that the new government of New Zealand highly values its relations with China and adheres to the one-China principle, and is willing to work with the Chinese side to deepen cooperation in various areas to push the relations between the two countries for greater development.
