Song Tao Meets with Leader of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan

Tokyo, October 12th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Yukio Edano, Leader of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan.

Song expressed that this year marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of the China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship and serves as an important node for both sides to sum up the past and look forward to the future. The CPC is willing to, in accordance with the principles and direction established by the leaders of the two countries for improving China-Japan relations, work together with the Constitutional Democratic Party to strengthen exchanges between the two Parties, deepen political mutual trust, manage differences in a constructive manner, and make positive efforts for the continuous improvement and sound development of China-Japan relations through new outcomes of inter-party cooperation.

Yukio Edano noted that developing Japan-China relations is the consensus of main political parties in Japan including the Constitutional Democratic Party as Japan and China are close neighbors. The Constitutional Democratic Party stands ready to strengthen high-level exchanges with the CPC, deepen exchanges between young politicians and continuously increase mutual trust, in a bid to jointly promote the sustained and healthy development of Japan-China relations.
