PAP Secretary-General and Prime Minister of Singapore Meets with Song Tao

On March 25th, Lee Hsien Loong, Secretary-General of the People’s Action Party (PAP) and Prime Minister of Singapore, met in Singapore with Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Song first conveyed the warm greetings from General Secretary Xi Jinping to Lee Hsien Loong. Song said that China-Singapore traditional friendship and fruitful cooperation outcomes have played an important role in promoting the respective development as well as in regional stability and prosperity. During President Xi's visit to Singapore in 2015, the two countries established an all-round cooperative partnership progressing with the times and the bilateral relations have entered a new era. China attaches great importance to developing China-Singapore relations and is ready to strengthen strategic communication, deepen practical cooperation with Singapore and push bilateral relations to a new level. Both the CPC and the PAP are the ruling parties, and strengthening exchanges and cooperation plays a positive role in steering the course of China-Singapore relations and guiding the better development of our respective countries. The CPC is ready to comprehensively enhance the relations between the two Parties, enhance the exchange of experience in party governance and state administration, promote policy communication within the Belt and Road Initiative and push forward China-Singapore relations progressing with the times.

Lee asked Song to convey his best wishes to General Secretary Xi. He said that currently Singapore-China cooperation keeps pace with the times and enjoys a sound momentum of development. The Belt and Road Initiative has brought new opportunities for the comprehensive and pragmatic cooperation between the two countries. Singapore is committed to deepening Singapore-China relations and is ready to better align its development strategies with China, accelerate connectivity building, expand cooperation in the third-party market and push for new progress in Singapore-China mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation to better benefit the two peoples. The PAP hopes to develop institutionalized exchanges and cooperation with the CPC, and learn from each other's development experience to guide the sustained and in-depth development of Singapore-China relations.
