On March 26th, under the theme of implementing the Presidents’ consensus and promoting China-Philippines friendship, the Neighborhood Party Talk between the ruling parties of China and the Philippines was held in Manila, the Philippines. Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended and addressed the event.
Song said that under the guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Rodrigo Duterte, China-Philippines relations have seen the light of day and entered a new era of comprehensive strategic cooperation. The ruling parties of both countries should always focus on the overall friendly relationship between the two countries, enhance the sense of mission and sense of responsibility, actively play a political leading role, constantly consolidate the foundation of China-Philippines traditional friendship, promote mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation, jointly cope with and overcome risks and challenges, and advance the implementation of the consensus reached by the two heads of state to make due contributions to promoting long-term, healthy and stable development of the relations between China and the Philippines.
Alfonso Cusi, Vice Chairman of the Philippine Democratic Party–Power of the Nation (PDP–Laban) and Energy Secretary; Pia Cayetano, Representative of the Partido Nacionalista and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Philippines; Martin Romualdez, President of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats and other political party leaders spoke highly of the important meaning of the dialogue between the ruling parties of both countries, and expressed the willingness to strengthen the exchange between political parties of the two countries, learn from the CPC’s experience in party governance and state administration, further align the development strategies of the Philippines with the Belt and Road Initiative through inter-party channels, share opportunities, pursuit common development, and promote mutual friendship to advance the Philippines-China relations to develop along the correct direction set by the two heads of state.
