Beijing, May 29th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) and Cuban Foreign Minister.
Song welcomed Rodriguez’s visit China again. Under the promotion of General Secretary Xi Jinping and First Secretary Raúl Castro, China and Cuba, the two socialist countries led by the Communist Party, have seen constantly expanding and deepening exchanges, which not only boost respective development robustly, but also boost socialist cause in the world. The Chinese side will continue to firmly support Cuba in safeguarding national sovereignty and independence and support Cuba in resolutely following the path of socialism that suits its own national conditions. China will work with Cuba to promote the peace, stability and development in Latin America.
Song shared his view on the trade frictions between China and the United States (US) upon request. He noted that the Chinese side is willing to work with the US side to solve differences via equal consultation and negotiation, but resolutely opposes power politics, extreme pressure and bullying. The Chinese side’s efforts not only aim to protect its own legitimate and lawful interests, but also to safeguard norms governing international relations and the interests of most countries in the world, especially developing countries. China is ready to make concerted efforts with Cuba to manage the things of each country well and push for the building of a more equal and fairer international order.
Rodriguez expressed that Cuba highly values the traditional friendship between the two countries. The PCC always takes developing its relations with China and the CPC as a priority, and is learning the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in an in-depth manner. It is hoped that the two sides will deepen intra-party exchanges and push China-Cuba relations and cause of socialism for greater progress. With a history of fighting against the US for 60 years, Cuba resolutely opposes the US’s unilateral sanctions against countries, including China. The US’s efforts in reviving the so-called “Monroe Doctrine” and practicing imperialism will bring serious impact on Latin America and the whole world at large. In fact, the US is building new international orders that comply to its own interests. The scheme had not succeeded, and will not succeed in the future.
