Beijing, August 27th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with U Kyaw Tint Swe, Minister for the Office of the State Counsellor of Myanmar.

Song said that China and Myanmar are friendly neighbors with a long-standing history of Paukphaw friendship. In recent years, President Xi Jinping and State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi have met many times, charting the course for and inject new vitality into bilateral relations. The CPC and the National League for Democracy (NLD), as ruling parties, play an important political leading role in China-Myanmar relations. The CPC supports the NLD’s efforts in safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity and economic development and improvement of people’s livelihood. It is hoped that the two sides could actively implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen mutual learning in state governance and administration, and promote the cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, and push for positive progress in major cooperation projects in particular. Both sides need to maintain the good momentum of cooperation between the two countries, bring more tangible benefits to the two peoples, and usher in 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties next year with greater development of China-Myanmar relations.

U Kyaw Tint Swe spoke highly of the CPC's people-centered ruling philosophy, saying that he felt the new achievements in China's development every time he visited China. The NLD thanks the CPC for supporting Myanmar's efforts to realize peace, stability and development, and is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the CPC to lay a more solid political foundation for Myanmar-China friendly relations. Myanmar is willing to make joint efforts with China to actively carry out cooperation in jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative, safeguard security and stability in the border areas, strengthen coordination and cooperation at the international level and push for new and greater progress in Myanmar-China relations.

The two sides also exchanged in-depth views on such topics as the situation in the Rakhine State and the Northern Myanmar issue.
