Song Tao Meets with Foreign Minister of Thailand

Bangkok, September 18th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Don Pramudwinai, Foreign Minister of Thailand.

Song said that China-Thailand relations have been deepening under the guidance of President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha. China is ready to work with Thailand to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, seize the opportunities presented by the Belt and Road Initiative, Thailand’s 4.0 and the Eastern Economic Corridor and other development strategies, and comprehensively raise the level of China-Thailand practical cooperation. China supports Thailand as the rotating chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). We are ready to work with Thailand to advance regional integration, integrate the Belt and Road Initiative with the ASEAN’s connectivity plan, advance consultations on the Code of Conduct in the South China sea, and make greater contribution to Asia's prosperity and development as well as regional peace and stability. The CPC is ready to deepen friendly relations with major political parties in Thailand and promote China-Thailand relations and pragmatic cooperation through inter-party channels.

Don said that Thailand attaches great importance to developing relations with China and the Belt and Road cooperation initiated by China brings more opportunities to Thailand's development and bilateral cooperation. The new Thai government will continue to adhere to the friendly policy towards China, deepen practical cooperation in all areas within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and push for new progress in the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Thailand and China. Thailand is ready to take the rotating presidency of the ASEAN as an opportunity to make positive contributions to deepening ASEAN-China relations and promoting regional stability and prosperity. The Thai side admires the achievements the CPC has made in governance and supports the Thai political parties in strengthening exchanges with the CPC and learning from each other's experience in state governance and administration.

Both sides also had extensive and in-depth exchanges of views on other topics of common interest.
