Katmandu, September 24th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Sher Bahadur Deuba, President of Nepali Congress.
Song appreciated the Nepali Congress's long-term commitment to China-Nepal friendship and its positive contribution to the development of China-Nepal relations, saying that the current political mutual trust between China and Nepal is stable, with economic and trade cooperation being deepened, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges being advanced continuously. The development of bilateral relations is facing a new historical opportunity. The CPC is ready to maintain close exchanges with the Nepali Congress, and work with all sectors of Nepali society to consolidate the traditional friendship between the two countries, strengthen cooperation in various fields through the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, bring tangible benefits to the two peoples, and push China-Nepal comprehensive cooperative partnership featuring ever-lasting friendship to a new level.
Deuba congratulated on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and glorious achievements of the Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC over the past 70 years, and thanked China for its long-term and strong support for the Nepali Congress and Nepal’s national development. He said that the Nepali Congress hopes to strengthen the party-to-party exchanges with the CPC, and jointly promote the friendship between the two peoples, to achieve greater development and lay a solid foundation for Nepal-China relations.
