On June 4th, Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), had a telephone conversation at request via video link with Dashzegve Amarbayasgalan, General Secretary of the Mongolian People’s Party (MPP).

Song said that China and Mongolia are friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers, and recent years have seen the rapid development in China-Mongolia relations. After the outbreak of COVID-19, General Secretary Xi Jinping met with President Khaltmaa Battulga who had paid a special visit to China, while MPP Chairman and Prime Minister Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh sent a letter of sympathy to General Secretary Xi to express the solidarity with the Chinese side. The Chinese side has also actively supported Mongolia’s pandemic containment and provided the Mongolian side with assistance to the best of China’s ability. Such gestures have fully showcased the profound friendship between China and Mongolia. The pandemic has once again highlighted the importance of the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind. However, some Western countries attempt to use the pandemic to stigmatize China, which will not only impede their own fight against the virus, but also poison the atmosphere of the global public opinion and hinder international anti-pandemic cooperation. The Chinese side is prepared to make joint efforts with the international community including Mongolia to actively propel cooperation in global public health governance and build a global community of health for all.

Song expressed that China has successfully convened the Two Sessions not long ago, during which General Secretary Xi has made important instructions and arrangements for coordinating and promoting the epidemic response and the economic and social development, thus charting the course for China’s high-quality development. The long-term fundamentals sustaining China’s stable economic growth will remain unchanged. As the CPC and the MPP are political parties with a history of nearly one hundred years, it is hoped that both Parties could beef up high-level exchanges, deepen exchange of experience in state governance and party governance in the context of routine COVID-19 response arrangements, and advance cooperation in livelihood and other fields so as to push in-depth and substantial development of China-Mongolia comprehensive strategic partnership and better benefit the two peoples.

Song also briefed Amarbayasgalan on the decision adopted by National People’s Congress on the national security legislation in Hong Kong.

Amarbayasgalan congratulated the CPC on its upcoming 99th anniversary, and noted that under the wise leadership of General Secretary Xi, China has achieved major strategic outcomes in COVID-19 prevention and control. China’s valuable experience has provided the rest of the world, including Mongolia, with a reference to defeat the virus and restore development. Amarbayasgalan extended Mongolia’s gratitude to China for offering medical supplies and assistance, saying that the MPP actively supports and joins a joint appeal advocated by the CPC and political parties around the world for carrying out closer international cooperation to combat COVID-19. The MPP firmly supports the one-China principle, opposes the interference in other countries’ internal affairs, and is willing to increase exchange of experience in state administration and party governance with the CPC as well as boost bilateral cooperation across the broad to improve people’s living standard and usher in the 100th anniversary of the founding of the MPP and the CPC next year.

Wang Yajun, IDCPC Vice-minister, attended the event.
