On July 9th, the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC) held a "China-Myanmar political parties+: video matchmaking conference between the Yunnan Province and Mandalay Region. State Counsellor of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi sent a written speech. Song Tao, IDCPC Minister; Chen Hao, Secretary of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee; Zaw Myint Maung, Second Vice Chairman of the National League for Democracy (NLD) and Chief Minister of Mandalay; and Than Myint, Minister for Commerce of Myanmar attended and addressed the event.
In her written speech, Aung San Suu Kyi said that the conference is a vivid manifestation of Myanmar-China paukphaw friendship and comprehensive cooperation. Under the new normal of regular COVID-19 response arrangements and ensuring normal life and production, Myanmar and China face both severe challenges and new opportunities. Both sides encourage local provinces to give full play to their advantages and strengthen practical cooperation, including cooperation in digital economy and e-commerce. It will help inject new connotation into Myanmar-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and contribute new strength to building a community with a shared future for Myanmar and China. Aung San Suu Kyi hoped the conference will reach broad consensus and wished the conference a complete success.
Song Tao conveyed General Secretary Xi Jinping’s warm greetings to Aung San Suu Kyi, and thanked her for sending a written speech. Song noted that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of China-Myanmar relations. President Xi paid a state visit to Myanmar at the beginning of this year, ushering China-Myanmar relations into a new era. Both countries have supported each other on issues concerning respective core interests, expounding the paukphaw friendship of helping each other in a profound manner. The cooperation model of ruling parties of China and Myanmar+ is to better implement the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, discuss leveraging the leading role of the political parties of both countries under the new circumstances, establish a platform for China-Myanmar sub-national cooperation through inter-party channel, and promote the Belt and Road cooperation between China and Myanmar and the building of economic corridor for more outcomes, so as to boost the in-depth and practical development of building a China-Myanmar community with a shared future and benefit the two peoples.
Chen Hao said that under the guidance of leaders of China and Myanmar, Yunnan and Mandalay, as important hubs in the Belt and Road cooperation between both countries, have achieved fruitful results in multilateral cooperation and enhanced mutual friendship in the joint fight against the pandemic. Guided by the unified deployment of the CPC Central Committee and within the framework of the memorandum of understanding on local cooperation between the two provinces, both sides need to give play to their complementary advantages, deepen cooperation in transportation, energy, agriculture, digital economy and other fields and make positive contributions to the development of China-Myanmar relations.
Zaw Myint Maung and Than Myint spoke highly of China’s major outcomes in COVID-19 response, and sincerely thanked the Chinese side for providing valuable support and assistance to Myanmar’s fight against the pandemic. They expressed the NLD’s readiness to work with the CPC to well implement the important consensus of both countries’ leaders, deepen exchanges of experience in state governance and administration, advance sub-national cooperation between Mandalay and Yunnan, and push for new achievements in the Belt and Road cooperation and the building of Myanmar-China economic corridor in the post-pandemic era, in a bid to enhance the friendship and well-being of the two peoples and promote greater development of Myanmar-China relations.

IDCPC Vice-minister Guo Yezhou chaired the conference. Liu Huiyan, member of Standing Committee and Secretary General of CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee; Chen Hai, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar; representatives from Alibaba, as well as principal leading officials from Mandalay’s relevant government departments and enterprises were present.
