Beijing, October 19th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Massimo D’Alema, former Prime Minister of Italy and President of Italianieuropei Foundation.
D’Alema warmly congratulated the Chinese side on successfully hosting the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, and said, President Xi Jinping's keynote speech at the Forum was both ambitious and down-to-earth. In the current turbulent international situation, China's efforts in propelling the Belt and Road international cooperation is crucial to advancing world economic development and maintaining world peace and stability.
Liu said, in the face of the current international trend, President Xi Jinping proposed the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, providing China's solution for promoting world peace, stability and development. At the Forum, President Xi Jinping announced eight major steps China will take to support joint pursuit of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, outlining a blueprint and charting the course for the international cooperation under the BRI. The Chinese side is willing to work with BRI partners to pursue high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and actively contribute to the prosperity, development and stability of the world.
Both sides also exchanged views on international issues of common concern.
