Port Vila, May 27th—Nikenike Vurobaravu, President of Vanuatu met here today with Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.
Vurobaravu welcomed Liu to visit Vanuatu as head of the CPC delegation, and reviewed the exchange experiences with China based on his diplomatic career. He thanked China for its support to Vanuatu during its struggle for national independence and liberation, its selfless assistance to Vanuatu's economic and social development, and speaking up for justice for Vanuatu in international and regional affairs. Vurobaravu said that Vanuatu is willing to increase exchanges and cooperation with China, give play to Vanuatu's role in the Pacific island region, and promote the development of relations between Pacific Islands Countries (PICs) and China.
Liu said, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Nikenike Vurobaravu, China and Vanuatu have continuously enhanced political mutual trust and achieved fruitful results in cooperation in various fields, which has brought tangible benefits to the two peoples. China-Vanuatu relations have become a model of mutual respect, solidarity and cooperation between countries of different sizes and a microcosm of China's relations with PICs. China appreciates Vanuatu's adherence to the one-China principle and is willing to continue to support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, work with Vanuatu to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, further align development strategies, strengthen exchanges and cooperation between political parties and enhance the traditional friendship between the two peoples. China is willing to strengthen solidarity and cooperation with Vanuatu and other PICs and jointly promote the building of a stronger community with a shared future between China and PICs.
