Liu Jianchao Meets with Ezzatollah Zarghami, Iranian Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts

Beijing, June 11th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Ezzatollah Zarghami, Iranian Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts.  


Liu said, in March last year, General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed the Global Civilization Initiative at the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-level Meeting, and he emphasized the importance of tolerance, coexistence, exchange and mutual learning among different civilizations in making the garden of world civilizations flourish. Both China and Iran have a long history and splendid culture, and have been examples of cultural exchanges and mutual learning since ancient times. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation with the Iranian side, jointly promote the implementation of the three global initiatives, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.  

Zarghami said, the Iranian government is firmly committed to developing friendly cooperation with China in an all-round way. In today's turbulent world, it is more crucial than ever for countries to unite, oppose violence, reject hegemonism, and strive for the well-being of humanity. The Iranian side highly praises President Xi Jinping's Global Civilization Initiative and other significant proposals, believing they reflect Chinese wisdom and align with the shared interests of humanity. The Iranian side is eager to enhance cooperation with the Chinese side in such fields as culture and tourism, intensify exchanges and discussions among think tanks, jointly promote dialogue among global civilizations and push for the implementation of various initiatives.
