Vladivostok, June 16th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, visited Russia's Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU). During his visit, he held talks with Boris Korobets, FEFU President and engaged in discussions with faculty and students.  

Liu said, FEFU is the largest and most innovative higher education institution in the Russian Far East and enjoys a high reputation. In the context of great changes in the world, the rise of emerging markets and developing countries and the rising influence of the Global South, FEFU attaches great importance to Oriental studies, which is of great significance to analyzing and judging the situation in the region and promoting peace, security and development. President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin have positioned China-Russia relations as a comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era, charting the course for the future development of bilateral relations. Education cooperation is an important area of cooperation between China and Russia. It is hoped that FEFU will give play to its unique advantages and continue to expand exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese side in academic research, cutting-edge science and technology, so as to make positive contributions to the educational development of the two countries and the friendship between China and Russia.  

Korobets said, FEFU is one of the largest and most influential universities in Russia, with a strong focus on Oriental studies, particularly Chinese studies. The university has over 1,500 Chinese students and has more than 60 partners in China. Since 2015, FEFU has been the venue for the annual Eastern Economic Forum. President Xi Jinping attended the fourth forum in 2018, bringing great honor to the university. I am glad to see President Vladimir Putin's successful visit to China not long ago, during which Russia and China issued a joint statement, vowing to strengthen cooperation in the field of education. FEFU is willing to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Chinese educational and research institutions, think tanks and universities to promote the development of Russia-China relations.
