Beijing, September 4th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Faure Gnassingbe, President of the Union for the Republic and Togolese President upon request.
Faure expressed his pleasure in attending the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Beijing. He said, Togo has been actively involved in the process since the early stages of the FOCAC. He voiced his confidence that the Summit will advance China-Togo friendly cooperation to a new level. Togo and China share a deep and long-term friendship. He expressed heartfelt thanks tothe Chinese side for its longstanding support, which helped the Togolese side develop in various fields. Political parties of Togo and China have maintained exchanges and cooperation for a long time. The CPC has provided important support for the construction of the ruling party of Togo. Currently, many political parties in African countries are facing many challenges. The UNIR is ready to, together with the CPC, strengthen experience exchanges in state governance and administration, and enhance unity and national cohesion to better achieve national development.
Liu stated, China and Togo are true friends and good partners who trust and support each other. President Xi Jinping and Togolese President Faure Gnassingbe had a fruitful meeting two days ago, elevating bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership and charting the course for the further development of bilateral relations. The Chinese side is ready to work with the Togolese side, guided by the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, to firmly support each other on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns, turn the advantages of the China-Togo traditional friendship into the driving force of win-win cooperation and continuously advance China-Togo friendly cooperation for new progress.
Liu said, both the CPC and the UNIR shoulder the important missionof achieving modernization of respective countries. The CPC is willing to strengthen strategic communication with theUNIR, deepen exchanges and mutual learning of experience in state governance and administration, including experience exchanges in party-building, strengthen governance capacity and better lead the people towards national development, so as to create a bright future for modernization of China and Togo. The Summit will be another significant milestone in China-Africa relations. The Chinese side will, as always, support African countries in seeking strength through unity, developing, and playing a greater role on the international stage.
Li Mingxiang, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, Sandra Ablamba Johnson, Secretary-General of the Togolese Presidency, and Atcholi Aklesso, Executive Secretary of the UNIR, were present.
