Beijing, June 27th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Fernando Lugris, outgoing Uruguayan Ambassador to China.
Liu spoke positively of Lugris's contributions to promoting the development of China-Uruguay and China-Latin America relations and the inter-party exchanges between the two countries during his tenure. Liu expressed that China is willing to work with Uruguay to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, enhance exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and strengthen multilateral coordination and cooperation to promote greater development of China-Uruguay and China-Latin America relations. The CPC is willing to continue to strengthen exchanges and dialogues with all political parties of Uruguay.
Lugris thanked the IDCPC for its strong support during his tenure in China. He said that Uruguay-China relations are at the best in history. Uruguay attaches great importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership with China and is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges with China and promote cooperation in various fields. Uruguay will assume the rotating presidency of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) next year and will strive to promote Latin America-China relations. Political parties of Uruguay share the broad consensus on developing relations with China, and are willing to strengthen friendly exchanges with the CPC.
