Algiers, July 29th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Abdelaali Hassani Cherif, President of the Movement of Society for Peace (MSP) of Algeria.
Liu said, Algeria is an important partner of China in the Arab states and Africa. The two countries have supported each other in national liberation and development and become partners in common progress, which is a precious political asset of China-Algeria relations. In 2023, President Xi Jinping and Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune reached important consensus on further developing the China-Algeria comprehensive strategic partnership. China is willing to work with Algeria to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen strategic communication and coordination, deepen cooperation within the frameworks of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum, and boost the development and transformation of both countries. Currently, changes unseen in a century are accelerating, while the international situation is undergoing complex and profound transformation. China is willing to work with Algeria to strengthen solidarity, cooperation, and seek strength through unity among countries of the Global South, firmly uphold the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based on international law, and accelerate the development of a more just, reasonable, balanced, and effective global governance system. China firmly supports the just cause of the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate national rights, and is willing to continue to make unremitting efforts to promote an early, comprehensive, just, and lasting solution to the Palestinian question.
Calling the MSP an important political force in Algeria, Liu said the CPC values its friendly relations with the MSP and is willing to work with all Algerian political parties, including the MSP, to plan exchanges between the political parties of the two countries, strengthen political dialogue and concept exchanges, promote practical cooperation between the two countries through the "political party +" channel, intensify personnel exchanges, including exchanges between the young politicians, and promote better development of respective countries.
Cherif said, Algeria and China have forged a profound friendship while pursuing national liberation. Algeria cherishes the friendly relations with China and thanks China for the long-term and substantial assistance and support for Algeria's national development. Algeria hopes to strengthen cooperation with China in international affairs, jointly safeguard the common interests of developing countries, and promote the building of a better multipolar world. Algeria commends China for the just stance, for providing humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people and promoting reconciliation among Palestinian factions, and expects China to playing a greater role in international and regional issues. The MSP hopes to strengthen personnel exchanges and exchanges of governance experience with the CPC to enhance mutual understanding and friendship and promote greater development of Algeria-China relations.
