Beijing, March 17th—the Chinese Association for International Understanding (CAFIU) and Beijing Language and Culture University jointly held here today the third session of the World Sinology Lecture both online and offline. The theme of the lecture is "The Communication and Mutual Learning Among Civilizations In Promoting Human Progress". Chen Zhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Sergey Manassarian, Armenian Ambassador to China, Gafar Karar Ahmed K., former Sudanese Ambassador to China, and Liu Li, President of Beijing Language and Culture University, attended the event and delivered speeches. More than 300 people attended the event, including sinologists, scholars, and students of the China Studies Program from over 40 countries.
Chen stated that on March 15th, the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-level Meeting was successfully held. General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed the Global Civilization Initiative at the meeting, calling on countries around the world to deepen and constantly promote exchanges and dialogues between civilizations, and advance human civilization's development and progress through mutual learning. Following the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative is another important public good provided by China in the new era. The World Sinology Lecture, as a high-end platform for dialogues among civilizations, is a vivid practice in building a global network of civilization and cooperation between civilizations. It is hoped that sinologists from all countries will continue to play an active role, serve as the bonds for promoting mutual learning among civilizations, bridges connecting Chinese and foreign civilizations, and ambassadors fostering the people-to-people bond, so as to contribute wisdom and strength to the implementation of the Global Civilization Initiative.
The sinologists highly praised General Secretary Xi Jinping's proposal of the Global Civilization Initiative. They believe that the Global Civilization Initiative represents the voice of sinologists worldwide. This initiative is a powerful statement from ancient Chinese civilization at the crossroads of world history, and a "Chinese solution" in response to the demands of the times. The "four advocacies" put forth in the initiative embody the principles of equality, inclusiveness, democracy, and justice, and provide a safeguard for the development and prosperity of world civilization, which will be beneficial to fostering understanding and friendship among people of all countries, and promoting human development and progress. Sinologists worldwide are the natural practitioners and promoters of the Global Civilization Initiative. They will "use good academic literacy as the needle and the Global Civilization Initiative as the thread to jointly weave the spiritual emblem of the community with a shared future for mankind." They will promote cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and the world in various ways, facilitating the implementation of the Global Civilization Initiative.
