Beijing, May 7th—Ma Hui, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Heinz Bierbaum, Chair of the Executive Board of Rosa Luxemburg Foundation and Former President of the Party of the European Left at request.

Ma said, this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union (EU), which is an important historical juncture for the China-EU relations to build on past achievements and work for fresh progress. China is willing to work with the EU to uphold mutual respect and win-win cooperation, and make greater contributions to world peace, stability, growth and prosperity. The CPC attaches great importance to its traditional friendly relations with European left-wing political parties and organizations, and is willing to continuously deepen exchanges of ideas and personnel, and contribute to the sustained, stable and healthy development of China-EU relations.

Bierbaum said, both sides should take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as a new historical starting point, and adapt to the changes of the times to inject new vitality into mutually beneficial cooperation between the EU and China. The Rosa Luxemburg Foundation is willing to continue to play the role of a bridge, promote exchanges and interactions between German and European left-wing parties and China, and make contributions to enhancing mutual understanding, win-win cooperation, and collaborative efforts in addressing global challenges between Germany and China, as well as between the EU and China.
