Beijing, January 6thLu Kang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with a delegation of American college students visiting China for the Spring Festival.

Lu welcomed the delegation, whose visit to the IDCPC is a part of China's initiative of inviting 50,000 young Americans to China on exchange and study programs in the next five years. He introduced the relevant contents of the Recommendations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development. Lu said, while China focuses on its own development, it actively promotes high-level opening up and is committed to building a community with a shared future for mankind. China's policy towards the US has always maintained high continuity. China and the US should jointly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state during their meeting in Busan, and promote the sound, stable and sustainable development of bilateral relations with an attitude featuring equality, respect and mutual benefit. Since President Xi Jinping put forward over a year ago China's initiative of inviting 50,000 young Americans to China on exchange and study programs in the next five years, a large number of American young people have visited China, enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries' youth. It is hoped that the American young students will feel the real, three-dimensional and comprehensive China through this visit and contribute to the people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and the US.

The American young students noted, they highly valued China's achievements in economic and social development and the 15th Five-Year Plan, and expected the US and China to seize the opportunity to strengthen dialogue and cooperation. They expressed the willingness to make positive contributions to the exchanges between the youth and people-to-people and cultural exchanges of the two countries.
