From January 18th to 20th, Ma Hui, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), led a delegation to visit Spain. During the visit, he met with Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, former Spanish Prime Minister; Enrique Santiago, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Spain; Jose Luis Centella, President of Communist Party of Spain; Alberto Nadal, Deputy Secretary of the People's Party of Spain; Ildefonso Castro, Secretary for International Policy the People's Party of Spain; Albert Dalmau Miranda, Acting President of the Government of Catalonia; Marcelo Muñoz, President Emeritus of Catedra China of Spain and others. Ma also attended a briefing on the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee held for various sectors in Spain. Yao Jing, Chinese Ambassador to Spain and Meng Yuhong, Chinese Consul General in Barcelona, participated in the above-mentioned activities.


Ma said, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Spain has enjoyed healthy and stable development. The CPC is willing to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Spanish political parties, deepen mutual learning of experience in state governance and administration, and promote practical cooperation and people-to-people bonds. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), China will continue to promote high-quality development and high-level opening up. China is willing to share development opportunities and pursue common development with countries around the world, including Spain.


The Spanish side spoke highly of China's achievements in economic and social development in recent years, expressed high attention to the Recommendations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development, and expressed its willingness to strengthen dialogue and exchanges with the CPC, seize the important opportunities brought by China's 15th Five-Year Plan, and deepen cooperation in various fields between Spain and China.
