Beijing, May 11th—Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today on the afternoon with Atte Kaleva, Member of Parliament (MP) of the National Coalition Party of Finland and Timo Harakka, MP of the Social Democratic Party of Finland.

Lu said, in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, China-Finland relations have maintained long-term, healthy, and stable development. In January of this year, President Xi Jinping met with Petteri Orpo, Chairman of the National Coalition Party and Prime Minister of Finland, during the latter's official visit to China, providing strategic guidance for further deepening China-Finland relations and cooperation. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), China will continue to promote high-quality development and expand high-level opening-up, bringing even more opportunities for China-Finland cooperation. China is willing to work with Finland to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen practical cooperation in areas such as green transformation and scientific and technological innovation, and promote the development of China-Finland and China-Europe relations. The CPC has maintained friendly exchanges with major Finnish political parties such as the National Coalition Party and Social Democratic Party, and stands ready to further strengthen inter-party exchanges, promote youth exchanges, and continuously enhance mutual understanding and political trust with Finland.

Kaleva and Harakka spoke highly of China’s tremendous development achievements under the leadership of the CPC, noting that China's progress in areas such as environmental protection, green transformation, and artificial intelligence was particularly impressive. In recent years, Finnish leaders, including Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, have visited China, demonstrating the positive momentum of the future-oriented new-type cooperative partnership between the two countries. Finland consistently adheres to the one-China policy and is willing to work with China to deepen exchanges and cooperation in areas such as green development and science and technology, and jointly uphold multilateralism and the international order. The Finnish National Coalition Party and the Social Democratic Party are willing to continue strengthening exchanges and dialogue with the CPC.

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.

Mikko Kinnunen, Finnish Ambassador to China, was present.
