Beijing, June 1st—Ma Hui, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Sira Rego, Minister for Youth and Children of Spain, who was in China for the 3rd World Conference of Sinologists.

Ma said, in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Spain relations have consistently been at the forefront of China-EU relations, with fruitful results achieved in cooperation across various fields. Inter-party relations are an important component of state-to-state relations. The CPC and the Communist Party of Spain (PCE) have a long history of exchanges and a profound traditional friendship. China appreciates the positive contributions made by the PCE as a party participating in the administration of state affairs to the development of China-Spain relations and is willing to work with the PCE and other friendly political parties in Spain to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and continuously enhance the well-being of the people of both countries.

Rego noted, Spain and China both boast long histories and profound cultural heritage, with broad prospects for cooperation in culture, language, sports and other fields. The Spanish side is willing to establish cooperation mechanisms with the CPC and relevant Chinese government departments, promote exchanges and interactions between young people and children of the two countries, and work together to care for the healthy growth of adolescents. The PCE treasures its profound friendship with the CPC and stands ready to further strengthen exchanges of experience on state governance and administration, enhance interactions between officials at all levels of both sides, and promote the sustained and sound development of Spain-China relations.

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional hotspot issues of common concern. Prior to the meeting, Ma accompanied the guest to visit a photo exhibition on the CPC’s external work.
