Beijing, June 3rd—Ma Hui, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended here today a celebration hosted by the Cuban Embassy in China to celebrate the 95th birthday of Raúl Castro, the revolutionary leader of Cuba.

Ma spoke highly of Raúl Castro’s historic contributions to Cuba’s revolution, socialist development and the enduring friendship between China and Cuba. He noted that China has consistently opposed illegal unilateral sanctions lacking a basis in international law or authorization from the UN Security Council, the abuse of judicial tools, and external pressure on Cuba under any pretext. China firmly supports Cuba in safeguarding its national sovereignty and security, opposes foreign blockade and interference, supports the just cause of the Cuban people, and will continue to uphold justice and speak out for Cuba.
Alberto Blanco Silva, Cuban Ambassador to China, noted, Raúl Castro is a pivotal founding figure for relations between the two Parties and the two countries. Cuba sincerely thanks China for its valuable support, and Cuba and China will always stand together.
Qiu Xiaoqi, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs, representatives from relevant Chinese departments, friends of Cuba from various sectors of society, and several former Chinese Ambassadors to Cuba were present at the event.
