Beijing, October 29th—The 191st Bergedorf Round Table, jointly organized by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC) and the Körber Foundation of Germany, was held here today, under the theme "Steering Through Change – Germany, Europe and China in an Era of Geopolitical Tension".

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who was on a visit to China, attended the Round Table.
In his opening remarks, Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, said that in recent years, President Xi Jinping and leaders of Germany and the European side have held multiple meetings and reached broad consensus, charting the course for the development of China-Germany and China-Europe relations. In the face of multiple risks and challenges amid profound global changes, China and Europe should keep abreast of the prevailing historical trends, shoulder the responsibilities of the times, and implement the important consensus reached by the leaders, so as to inject greater certainty and positive energy into world peace and development.
The European side expressed the readiness to strengthen dialogue and communication with China, tap the potential for cooperation, and properly manage differences, so as to actively contribute to the development of China-Europe relations and global prosperity and stability.
Around 40 participants were present, including government officials, parliament members, diplomatic envoys to China, think tank scholars, business representatives and media professionals from China, the European Union, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Sweden and other countries and regions. Initiated by the Körber Foundation of Germany in 1961, the Bergedorf Round Table has been jointly organized by the Körber Foundation and the IDCPC on multiple occasions. It aims to promote mutual understanding and trust between China and Europe through candid and in-depth dialogue.
