On July 20th, César Villanueva, Prime Minister of Peru, met at his office with Li Qiang, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee.
Li conveyed Premier Li Keqiang’s sincere greetings to César Villanueva. He noted that China and Peru are good friends enjoying mutual trust and good partners pursuing common development. China has all along viewed and developed China-Peru relations from a strategic height and long-term perspective. It is hoped that both sides could align development strategies under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, give play to complementary advantages, and constantly elevate the level of practical cooperation, in a bid to promote bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership for constant and in-depth development.
César Villanueva asked Li to convey his sound wishes to Premier Li Keqiang. He expressed that the Peruvian side attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and highly appreciates the important role bilateral cooperation has played in the economic and social development of Peru for a long term. Peru welcomes and supports the Belt and Road Initiative, and stands ready to enhance Peru-China practical cooperation in various fields to benefit the two peoples.
At invitation of the Peruvians for Change Party, Li led a CPC delegation to visit Peru from July 19th to 22nd. During his visit, Li held talks with Gilbert Violeta, President of the Peruvians for Change Party, met with Luis Castañeda Lossio, Mayor of Lima, witnessed the signing of the friendship agreement between Shanghai and Lima, and attended the photo exhibition of achievements of reform and opening up in Shanghai over the past 40 years as well as watched art performance of the “Shanghai Night”.
