From May 21st to 22nd, Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), led a delegation to Xingtang County in Hebei Province to investigate the work of targeted poverty alleviation. Shi Qingshuang, Vice Governor of Hebei Province, participated in relevant activities. The delegation led by Song investigated the work of poverty alleviation in Dongjingdi Village, Shangfang Town, where the IDCPC are stationed, and visited teachers and students of Dongjingdi Village Primary School and farmers who had just been lifted out of poverty. They paid a field visit to the poverty alleviation industry and Yingshui River regulation project introduced by the IDCPC, and attended the promotion meeting of the work of targeted poverty alleviation in Xingtang County.

Song pointed out that General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important discourses on poverty alleviation is an essential part of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. The discourses provide a guide for winning the fight against poverty in the new era and contribute Chinese wisdom to global poverty governance. The IDCPC has earnestly studied and implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important discourses on poverty alleviation, and will take the targeted poverty alleviation in Xingtang County as an important political task to shoulder primary responsibility, upgrade the working methods, accelerate the work intensity, ensure the guarantee of talents, and solve practical problems. In recent years, Xingtang County has implemented the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on poverty alleviation. Under the leadership of the CPC Hebei Provincial Committee and the provincial government and the CPC Shijiazhuang Municipal Committee and municipal government, Xingtang County has made remarkable achievements in poverty alleviation. Days ago, Hebei Province has officially approved the exit of Xingtang County from the list of poverty-stricken counties, and the IDCPC has expressed its heartfelt congratulations to the 460,000 people of Xingtang County.

Song noted that in the next stage, the IDCPC will, on the basis of political heights of the “four consciousnesses” and the “two upholds”, further implement General Secretary Xi’s important instructions of taking the county off the list of poverty-stricken counties, but not taking off the responsibility, policy, help, or supervision. We will continue to do a good job in helping, continue to consolidate the results of poverty alleviation, and fully help the Xingtang County to embark on the path of well-off. The IDCPC will also make efforts to give full play to the unique advantages of the party’s external work, vigorously publicize the world significance of General Secretary Xi’s important discourses on poverty alleviation, and share with the developing countries our experience of alleviating poverty and building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way, so as to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
