Prime Minister of Singapore Meets with Chen Miner

On September 11th, Lee Hsien Loong, Secretary-General of the People’s Action Party (PAP) and Prime Minister of Singapore, met at the President’s Office with Chen Miner, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee.

Chen conveyed the warm greetings from President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang. He said that President Xi Jinping and Your Excellency jointly established China-Singapore all-round cooperative partnership progressing with the times, ushering in a new stage of bilateral cooperation. China is willing to, together with Singapore, pursue high-quality cooperation of the Belt and Road Initiative, work together to safeguard multilateralism and promote regional stability and development. The CPC is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the PAP to make new contributions to the development of bilateral relations. Chongqing will actively implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and make steady headway in promoting the construction of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity and a new international continental and maritime trade route.

Lee asked Chen to convey his best wishes to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang. He said, Singapore firmly supports the Belt and Road Initiative, looks forward to sharing China’s development opportunities, and hopes to strengthen exchanges and mutual understanding between the two countries' ruling parties, expand practical cooperation with Chongqing, and steadily develop Singapore-China relations for the benefit of the two countries and people of the region.

At the invitation of the Singaporean government, Chen led a CPC delegation to visit Singapore from September 10th to 13th. During the visit, Chen met with Heng Swee Keat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Teo Chee Hean, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security, and Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Trade and Industry respectively. He also attended the China (Chongqing)-Singapore Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum, the international itinerant exhibition of celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the opening ceremony of China (Chongqing)-Singapore International Data Channel, and other events.
