Austrian President Meets with Yang Xiaodu

On October 17th, Alexander Van der Bellen, President of Austria, met with Yang Xiaodu, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and Director of National Supervisory Commission.

Yang conveyed the sincere greetings from President Xi Jinping and thanked Van der Bellen for sending congratulations on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. He said that during Mr. President’s visit to China last year, President Xi and you jointly established China-Austria friendly strategic partnership, charting the course for the future development of bilateral relations. China is ready to strengthen communication with the new Austrian government, implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and constantly add new connotation to the China-Austria friendly strategic partnership. He also introduced China's efforts to build a clean Silk Road and hoped that the two countries could strengthen international cooperation against corruption.

Van der Bellen asked Yang to convey his best wishes to President Xi and once again extend warm congratulations on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. He spoke highly of Austria-China relations, saying that Austria is willing to take an active part in the Belt and Road Initiative, deepen bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, tourism and winter sports and push for sustained and healthy development of bilateral relations.

At the invitation of the Austrian government, Yang led a CPC delegation to visit Austria starting from October 15th. During the visit, Yang also met respectively with Wolfgang Sobotka, President of the National Council and Clemens Jabloner, Austrian Vice-Chancellor and Justice Minister. Yang visited the International Anti-Corruption Academy, met with representatives of relevant UN agencies and signed anti-corruption cooperation documents.
