Beijing, December 2nd—The China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD)’s board transition meeting was held here today. Gao Yunlong, Vice Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and Chairman of the Third Council of the CFPD, and Xian Hui, Member of the Leading Party Members Group and Vice Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended and addressed the meeting. Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), gave a speech, while Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, presided over the meeting. 

The meeting reviewed and summarized the important achievements and experience gained by the CFPD since its establishment, especially during the tenure of the 2nd Council. Xian was elected as the Chairperson of the Third Council of the CFPD. The meeting also elected Vice Chairpersons, the Secretary-General, and board members, announced the candidates for the Supervisory Chair and Supervisors, and approved the work report and the audit report of the Council. 

Gao said, the Second Council of the CFPD has always adhered to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era, and thoroughly implemented the important instructions and directives of General Secretary Xi Jinping regarding being ambassadors fostering the people-to-people bond. Under the guidance of the IDCPC, and with the joint efforts of all colleagues and the support of all sectors of society, it has fully devoted itself to international public welfare undertakings, strived to practice the four major global initiatives, widely promoted the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind, and played a unique role and achieved positive results in serving China's overall diplomacy and promoting people-to-people bond. It is hoped that CFPD will continue to be a practitioner of peaceful development, a promoter of people-to-people bond, and a disseminator of mutual learning among civilizations in the new journey, and create even greater achievements. 

Xian said, as the whole country is studying and implementing the spirit of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee in an in-depth manner, the CFPD holds its board transition meeting. This is not only a concrete measure to understand and implement the spirit of the important speeches of General Secretary Xi Jinping, but also a practical action to implement the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee. It is of great significance for further achieving unity in thinking, building consensus, gathering strength, and accelerating the high-quality development of the CFPD's cause. The new Council will lead the CFPD to rally even more closely around the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, adhere to the Party leadership and forge a solid political essence, serve the overall situation and shoulder the mission of the times, adhere to upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground and creating distinctive brands, adhere to standardized management, and ensure sound development. With a high sense of political consciousness, a strong sense of mission and a full enthusiasm for work, the new Council will actively engage in the great cause of people-to-people diplomacy, strive to be ambassadors fostering the people-to-people bond, and make new and greater contributions to the great cause of building a great country, national rejuvenation and the progress of human development. 

Liu said, since its establishment, the CFPD has always adhered to the mission of "promoting peaceful development and enhancing friendly cooperation", earnestly implemented the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee, actively responded to various risks and challenges, continuously innovated work ideas and methods, and achieved remarkable results in project implementation, fund raising, and international cooperation. The recently concluded fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee has made top-level designs and strategic plans for China's development in the next five years. In this new historical period, it is hoped that the new Council will align thinking and action with the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era, especially Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy as the guidance, deeply implement the important instructions and directives of General Secretary Xi on people-to-people diplomacy, acquire a deep understanding of the decisive significance of establishing Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and of establishing the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; become more conscious of the need to maintain political integrity, think in big-picture terms, follow the leadership core, and keep in alignment with the central Party leadership; stay confident in the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics; and uphold Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and uphold the Central Committee’s authority and its centralized, unified leadership. It is hoped that the new Council will consciously integrate the work of the CFPD into the overall development of the CPC and China, bear in mind the country’s most fundamental interests, step up to undertake our duties, and constantly open new ground for the work of the CFPD. 

After the meeting, Chairperson Xian Hui presided over the first meeting of the Third Council. The meeting agreed to appoint deputy secretary-generals, introduced the policy requirements of the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Society Work Department of the CPC Central Committee regarding enhancing the Council's capacity to fulfill its responsibilities, and reviewed and approved the meeting minutes and other issues. 

The CFPD, established in 2011, is a national charity organization focusing on key areas such as education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation. It has carried out over 200 public welfare projects and exchange activities in more than 40 neighboring and partner countries of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). In April 2019, General Secretary Xi Jinping wrote in the letter replied to the students and teachers of Laos-China Friendship Nongping Primary School donated by CFPD, “I wish there would be more envoys for people-to-people connectivity like CFPD who devotes their efforts in countries along the BRI to enhance cooperation and benefit local people.”
