BEIJING, Feb. 26 -- Liu Jieyi, vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here with Kent Harstedt, Member of the Swedish Parliament from the Social Democratic Party and chairperson of the Parliament's Sweden-China Friendship Network, who is visiting China at the invitation of the International Department.

Liu introduced to Harstedt the spirits of the 18th National Congress of the CPC, its party building work and the outline of the 12th Five-Year Plan. He stressed that China's maintenance of sustainable and sound economic growth and social stability not only serves the interests of the Chinese people but also supports peace, stability and common development in the world.

Harstedt said that important opportunities for strengthening cooperation between China and the rest of the world have emerged as China accelerates transition of economic development pattern and keeps steady and relatively fast economic growth. He hopes that China will increase investment in Nordic countries.

Harstedt also met here with Zha Peixin, vice-chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the 11th National People's Congress, Wu Dawei, special representative of the Chinese Government on the Korean Peninsula Affairs, and experts from the Research Institute on Party Building of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee and Beijing Administrative College.
