BEIJING, March 20 -- Li Jinjun, vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here this morning with Jose Tadeu C. Soares, the outgoing Portuguese ambassador to China.

Li spoke highly of the positive efforts made by both the Portuguese Embassy in China and the ambassador himself to promote China-Portugal relations, advance practical cooperation between the two countries and deepen the mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples. He hoped that ambassador Soares would continue attention on China's development and contribute to the growth of the bilateral ties after leaving the current post. The two sides also exchanged views on issues of common interests including China’s relations with Europe as much as its relations with Portugal and cooperation with other Portuguese-speaking countries.
