ROME, July 16 -- Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta met today with Hu Chunhua, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, who was visiting Italy.

Hu said that China attaches great importance to its relations with Italy. He noticed the good momentum of development of the comprehensive and strategic partnership between the two countries. He expressed China’s wish to work with Italy to further strengthen friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two countries to bring bilateral relations to a higher level. He also expressed the wish of Guangdong Province to strengthen its cooperation with Italy to contribute to the development of bilateral relations.

Letta welcomed the visit of Hu and his CPC delegation. He acknowledged the good momentum of bilateral relations and expanding areas for cooperation. He believed that the visit would further strengthen bilateral relations.

On the same day, Hu held talks with Epifani, national secretary of the Democratic Party of Italy.
