BEIJING, August 14 -- Vice-minister Yu Hongjun of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee met this morning in Beijing with Declan Kelleher, the outgoing ambassador of Ireland to the People's Republic of China.
Yu spoke positively of the ambassador's contribution to the party-to-party exchanges and cooperation between China and Ireland during his term. The CPC has already established relations, in various forms, with the Fine Gael, the Labour Party, the Fianna Fail and other major parliamentary parties of Ireland, and is ready to continue its dialogues and exchanges with these parties to enhance mutual understanding and further propel the mutually beneficial strategic partnership between the two countries, said Yu.
Hailing the CPC for its renowned governance achievement and openness, Kelleher said that political parties in Ireland and China shoulder the same mission of promoting economic and social progress and improving people's wellbeing in their respective countries and face various similar challenges as well. Therefore, as pointed out by Kelleher, it's of great significance for the two sides to strengthen communication and learn from each other, for which Ireland is ready to make constant efforts.
