BEIJING, July 31 -- Vice-chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC and minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee Wang Jiarui met here today with Eamon Gilmore, tanaiste (deputy prime minister) and minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland who is also the leader of the Labor Party.
Wang said both the Communist Party of China and the Irish Labor Party shoulder the important responsibility for promoting the economic and social development and improving people's livelihood in their respective countries. The CPC is willing to establish and maintain a friendly relation of exchanges with the Irish Labor Party and share experience with the latter in governance and contribute to the progress of the state-to-state relations.
Gilmore said Ireland is fully aware of the historic contribution of the CPC and the leading role it is playing in China's economic and social development. The Irish Labor Party is willing to establish a close relation of all-round cooperation with the CPC. He suggested the two parties should exchange ideas on governance and on domestic and international topics of shared interests so as to bring about a better development to respective countries and successfully cope with global challenges.
The two sides also exchanged views on China-Ireland relations, shared information on domestic situation of their respective countries and on the situation of the Korean Peninsula.
